session 2-功gōng 夫fū

Getting ready for the 功gōng 夫fū (Kung-fu)
Oh...That hurts!
The younger ones were so confident with their flexibility.
See my high kick! I can kick when I am sitting down.
塞sāi 尔ěr konws how to hold a good Kung-fu posture.
And he can turn a perfect somersault.
伊yī 恩ēn 's outfit mathed to what he was doing. But his face was too sweet to be a bad boxer.
Ya...Yia...
Alessandro is always a gentleman in the class but not in here.
Taylor's punches are fast and very intense.

The Kung-fu master said that Allison's roll was the best and her landing was very graceful too.

Way to go, 凱kăi 麗lì !!

Session 2- Chinese Class 中zhōng 文wén 课kè

We were showing off our family pictures. We already knew how to say grandpa, grandma, mom, and dad. Tody, we learned to say sisters, brothers, and aunts. We also had to put those words in a magic sentence “我wǒ 爱ài .... ", which means I Love...

We were talking about 派pài 克kè 's picture.
It was funny that 艾ài 玛mă knew all the people on 派pài 克kè 's picturs.
We tried to find Korea and Tokyo on the map. 派pài 克kè 's mom was born in Korea and 路lù 卡kă and 克kè 莱lái 亚yă have been to Tokyo and China.
Who is the girl on the left? 艾ài 玛mă was peeking ...
伊yī 恩ēn was trying to figure out the person on the picture.

TA 若ruò 南nán was helping girls with their presentation projects. She wrote Chinese names on the posters. We appreciated her beautiful handwriting.

Session 2- Tangram 七qī 巧qiăo 板băn

The Tangram (七qī 巧qiăo 板băn "seven boards of skill") originated from China during the song Dynasty. Tangrams were brought to America by Chinese and American ships during the first part of the nineteenth century. The earliest example known is made of ivory in a silk box and was given to the son of an American ship owner in 1802.
Tangram is a dissection puzzle. It has 7 pieces, which fit together to form different shapes, such as the animals you see from the pictures below. The goal is to form a specific shape with the seven pieces. ~~Information from Wikipedia
See the pictures above? Can you find swans, camels, and foxes?
艾ài 力lì 特tè is little but he can cut very well."

Big boys were taking it slow. They liked to chat and work at the same time.

朱zhū 老lăo 师shī were helping Khaili and Allison to choose a pattern.
路lù 卡kă : 厉lì 害hài 吧ba !( I am super!) TA: 太tài 好hăo 了le! (very good!)
派pài 克kè :What is wrong with this triangle? 戴dài 宏hóng , 心xīn 怡yí , 和hé 优yōu 雅yă were concentrating on cutting.

艾ài 玛mă is the first one to finish her 七qī 巧qiăo 板băn . 第dì 一yī 名míng !!(1st place winner!!)

Session 2 - 餃jiăo 子zi Cooking Dumplings

Today we are making dumplings! Yummy! Chinese dumplings ususally have some sort of minced meat and chopped vegetables, and all of this is wrapped in a circular dough skin which we call pi. Mmm.... yummy, yummy! I can't wait until we finish 包bāo 餃jiăo 子zi , so we can eat it! Dumplings are essential to Chinese people's diet. Chinese people like to eat dumplings especially during the Chinese New Year. Why do you think that is? Well, there is a tradition that Chinese people make dumplings during the New Year because dumplings look like this:

This is an ingot or known to chinese people as 元yuán 寶băo . Chinese people like to put lucky coins in the dumplings during Chinese New Years, but not every dumpling has the coins. Whoever eats the dumpling with the coin, it is said that that person will have good fortune and luck for the following year. So its kind of like King Cake for Mardi Gras.

Zhu lao shi helps the kids 包bāo 餃jiăo 子zi .

Adol and Emma are very interested in learning how to cook chinese cuisine.

Zhu lao shi shows everyone how to make a pretty 餃jiăo 子zi , but I think we should stick to the basic way of making dumplings for now.

The cooking teacher helps everyone get started on their wonderful journey to make 餃jiăo 子zi .

Our TAs are helping to make 餃jiăo 子zi too because they don't want to miss out on the fun.

Now that everyone knows how to bao 餃jiăo 子zi , maybe they can make some at home!

Section 2 - Ping Pong

We had Ping Pong class today. Our ping pong teacher is very exclusive. He is the best ping pong teacher in Houston. Many of his students have won many awards for their skills in ping pong. The kids were excited to learn from such a good teacher. Let's see how they did on their first day!

Playing ping pong is not as easy as it looks. There are many techniques to learn in order to be fast and quick in ping pong. The ping pong teacher is teaching the kids how to play two pair ping pong.

Where did the ball go? That's okay, we can still learn!

Everyone has to practice to hit the ball on the paddle before they get on the table.

What a day of ping pong!
